Research and Clinical Trials

The research being conducted for Vitiligo currently is made by taking advantage of the recent advances in genetics. Researchers are investigating Vitiligo using gene analysis to determine if genes are causing or maybe a contributing factor to getting Vitiligo. Other research include if heredity, trauma and stress as well as environmental pollution are the triggers in the development of Vitiligo. Medical research is time consuming and expensive the hope is doctors will be able to find how to prevent and cure Vitiligo for future generations.

Researchers have found evidence of a link between Vitiligo and a gene called NALP1. It is hoped that further genetic analyses of these groups will enable them to identify one or more additional Vitiligo susceptibility genes. This work may lead to development of specific approaches to disease therapy and prevention for patients at high genetic risk.
